WESNET has partnered with Telstra since late 2014 to help women impacted by domestic violence to stay safely connected. Telstra provides smartphones, pre-paid credit and information on the safe use of technology to WESNET for distribution through its partner agencies nationally to support women impacted by domestic violence.
The program won an Australian Crime and Violence Prevention Award in 2016. The awards recognise and reward good practice in the prevention or reduction of violence and other types of crime in Australia.
In March 2016, Telstra announced that it would be providing 20,000 new smart phones to the program. The Commonwealth Government also funded WESNET to deliver training about technology facilitated abuse to frontline agencies so they can support the women who need new phones. The measure, known as Safer Technology for Women is part of the federal governments $100m Women’s Safety Package.
The Program was externally evaluated by Curtin University in 2017. You can read the full evaluation report here.

Telstra Pre-Paid Recharge Program
The request process for Telstra $30 Recharge Cards has changed.
In the past, eligible community agency staff completed a paper form, then scanned and emailed it directly to Telstra. Now, the request process has moved online through an integration with Infoxchange’s client and case management system Service Record System (SRS). Agency workers will be able to use their SRS login and apply the $30 recharge instantly to the client’s Telstra pre-paid mobile phone.
Don’t have SRS?
You can call our staff on 1800WESNET and they will be able to apply the $30 credit to eligible Telstra Prepaid devices instantly.
